Privacy policy
What thetrail keeps, and how to have it deleted.
What we keep
- We keep your name and email address. We use them to send your sign-in code and to keep your place on the trail, and we receive them in an email the first time you sign up.
- We keep your walk. It holds the stage you have reached, your answers at the trailhead, your reason for walking, your settings, and the encounters you have unlocked.
- We keep your flags. Each one holds the line you flagged, the problem you chose, any comment you wrote, and your account.
- We keep a hash of your network address. The hash is one-way, and we never keep the address itself. We use it only to cap how many requests one address can make.
Tracking and analytics
We run no tracking or analytics, and we sell nothing about you.
Other services
Three services handle some of your data. Cloudflare hosts the site and runs the challenge on the sign-up form. Amazon's email service sends your code. If your walk reaches a scene with a video, YouTube's player shows it, and YouTube's own privacy policy then governs what YouTube collects.
In your browser
One cookie keeps you signed in for a year. Your browser also keeps its own copy of your walk.
Deleting everything
Write to support@thetrail.online from the email address you used to sign up. We then delete everything we hold about you.
Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes the copy there.
